Dear Callen,
Over the last month or so we’ve had to make some major life decisions. We’ve been in Utah for almost two years at this point. My relocation contract at work is almost complete so we can move back East without penalty. Our lease is also coming up so it was time to decide if we were staying for the foreseeable future or if we were going to pack up and move on. It’s a tough decision and I want to make sure that I am making the right decision for your future. Things are going pretty good at work, but there are some potential changes going on that have been in the news. Your current school district is changing boundaries so you’ll be in a new school this year as well. Overall I decided that the best thing for our family was to stay in Utah, and if we were going to do that it was time to set down some roots.
Today we closed on our new house. I will tell you that the house buying experience in Utah is absolute madness. There were many times where a new listing would pop-up online and when I asked my realtor to schedule a showing there was already an offer in. Every house that worked for us was off the market before we could even get to see it. We finally got to see a house that fit all of our requirements and was in the area we wanted. It was easy to see that this house was the one, so I put in an offer within a few hours.
The movers are coming on Monday, which is not ideal with the school year starting on Tuesday, but we’ll make it work. I think this is going to be good for us. The house is great and gives us more space. The school district is also a little better, and I’m not exactly upset about you switching schools after what we went through last year. I don’t know how long we’ll be in our new home, but I really hope this is the start of something good for us.
Love,
Daddy
